Guangzhou Medical University (GMU),formerly known as Guangzhou Medical College, founded in 1958, is a medical institution which offers a full range of programs at graduate and undergraduate levels. The main campus of GMU is located in the downtown of Guangzhou City, a stone's throw away from Liuhua Lake Park and Yuexiu Mountain.A new campus of approximately 247 acres is situated in Panyu District of Guangzhou City near Pearl River, which is an ideal place for learning and research.
GMU boasts 15 schools: School of Basic Sciences, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Health Management, School of Public Health, School of Nursing, Graduate School, School of International Education, School of Dentistry, Kingmed College of Laboratory Medicine, The School of General Practice and Continuing Education, Health Vocational and Technical College, The First Clinical School, The Second Clinical School, The Third Clinical School, The Fourth Clinical School. GMU offers 19 full-time undergraduate programs, namely, Clinical Medicine, Medical Laboratory, Medical Imaging, Nursing, Anesthesiology, Dentistry, Clinical medicine of integrated TCM and Western Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Pharmacy, Rehabilitation Sciences, Health Administration, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Psychology, Biotechnology, Biological Science, Law, Marketing, Statistics, Information Management& Information System, Food Quality and Safety. In addition to its quality undergraduate programs, GMU offers 5 Level-I master degree granting programs, 35 Level-II master degree granting programs, 1 Level-I doctorial degree granting programs and 1 post-doctorial research station. Furthermore, GMU boasts 5 state key clinical specialties and 39 provincial key clinical specialties.
GMU has 8 directly affiliated hospitals and 11 non-directly affiliated hospitals, which specialise in respiratory diseases, neuropathy, cardiovascular diseases, gynecology and obstetrics, cancer, dental care, rehabilitation, minimally invasive surgery, primary care and so on.
GMU boasts a strong faculty, there are 1 academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering (Professor Zhong Nanshan), 2 candidates listed in the “New Century National Thousand Talents Project”, 1 visiting professor of “Yangtze Scholar”, 2 distinguished professors of “Pearl River Scholar”, 1 national teaching team, 1 national honored teacher, 2 national distinguished teachers, 30 experts enjoying the special allowance of the State Council, 3 experts with national outstanding contribution, 5 young and middle aged experts who have made outstanding contributions appointed by the Ministry of Health, 8 experts with Guangdong Provincial outstanding contributions, 84 doctoral supervisors and 570 master supervisors.

GMU, with good infrastructure and environment, is an ideal place for learning and research. GMU began to enroll international undergraduate students for English-taught clinical medicine programs in 2010 and was authorized to admit Chinese Government Scholarship students in 2014. Now we have 101 international students from 10 different countries.
